The stones from this piece were gathered from an area under the oak tree where Champion, "Karistan's Picasso" the horse was buried. An important horse he was, as on his gravestone the engraving states, "You're so beautiful that I'm in paradise each time I see you again."
An interesting injunction being that this year, 2014, is the Year of the Horse. Each oval the same size and all of the shapes are drawn together with a smooth, sweeping line of stones. The 3 mandalas symbolizing the harmony of mind, body and spirit. The violet of the Lavender and the greyish blue of the Sage represent the crown chakra, opening the gateway to creativity and imagination.
